You can do 2 basic things with this software.
1) Write a secret message into the picture data.
2) Read a secret message from the picture data.
You have 2 basic choices:
1) No encryption - just in case you forget passwords alot and the people around your house doesn't know you can hide messages into pictures.
2) Xor encryption - A basic encryption that uses a Xor operator that most major encryption software use as part of a major encryption. It is for the casual user who does not want an average user to look into his or her picture file with notepad and read the secret message. Xor encryption keeps the message well hidden from average users.
I currently have this version in Easy to use format, and I have not supplied a advanced format yet. Each use of this program uses a step by step wizard guide to take you thru the required steps to do the task you want to do.

Hiding your message into a picture file does not mean putting your message on the picture itself, but with inside the source code that makes the picture file.
Which means you will not see the message while viewing your picture using any image viewer.
If you do not encrypt your message, it is possible to use notepad to open your picture's code and see your message inside it.
The reason I created Secret Message was for my own personal use, and that some software companies have over charged users too much money. There is software out there that can do similiar or more than my current software, but I plan to continually update this software because of my own personal interests and use. My own person use is a safe place I can store my passwords. Who would ever guess to use a picture file to store a encrypted message into a file which will contain most of his or her passwords on a USB drive or CD?
You could use a encryption program to encrypt your passwords, but most hackers have seen this and know how to crack them quickly. If you encrypt your password and store that into a picture file, then store that picture file into a bunch of pictures.. its like trying to find a needle in a haystack. On top of that, The usual person not knowing how you did it or even would have guessed you have that ability to do this enhances your security greatly.
How many programs out there do this type of encryption? I have counted 3. Three programs I know about that can do this, yet there are hundreds of thousands that just use the normal method of encryption. They encrypt and store the encryption into a normal file. I am not saying 3 is the final number, but during my research for other programs that do this.. I have came across 3 programs. I am a programmer and if someone else has made a better product that I can afford, I'd rather buy it than make it. I can see that the majority of software that is out there has hyped up their software. They run the download numbers of up by creating fake accounts, also make good comments about their own products, etc. I do not want anyone's hyped up software that may or may not do what it says. I want something that will work. So, I am currently programming my own software! An' if anyone wants something that works, you are FREE to use mine!
Another reason I created this software is because a friend of mine has a husband who is always into her stuff, email, etc. Even while her husband is at work, he reads her "email drafts" as she writes emails to her friends. I believe she is entitled to her own personal freedom, and I believe that others out there have spouses who go over the line to watch every move they make! I have created this software for those of you whom want a little more leg room. I am looking into make a CD version of this software so you can buy it without breaking a arm and leg to do it, and a way I can send it to you. The CD version I plan to make will not install itself on any computer. It will just load into your computer's memory. The reason to do this is so your spouse will not be able to find it on the computer. I'm working on a way to disguise it also so that it appears to be just another software program. Email me if you support the idea of me to work on this part of the project further, otherwise I may drop this idea if there is no support on it.
Secret Message Screenshots:
Most of the major screen shots, although some screenshots have been omitted because these screenshots give the basics of what is going on with the program. I have disabled professional encryption because I do not have it working yet. As soon as I can add professional encryption to this freeware product, I will enable that feature.

Escape (or ESC) key will toggle Rollup View.

Future Plans for updates:
Multi-Skin Support
More Image File type support - Looking into adding BMP next, because it is known for better encryption than JPG picture files, because you store parts of the message thru-out the picture instead of just in one spot. Jpg / Jpeg pictures store data using markers, and so your data ends up all in one line of code instead of scattered. I am looking at a way to scatter the data in the JPG / JPEG file.
Professional Encryption (blowfish, AES, DES, IDEA) Just to name a few I'm looking at. Adding encryption and then putting it into a picture file without making a image view mess up or say "bad file" is pretty hard to do. So this may take me some time on how I am to encode a encryption block into a picture file. Why? Because the picture file can have a marker in it that may also happen to be in your encryption code and when it shows up, the image viewer will think its an image and "try to read it". Instead of reading the real image file, it starts to read your encryption code and fails! So, I am currently working on a fix for it. I may end up using a method similar to the Xor Method to encode the encryption. That means, I will convert the encrypted code into something that the image viewer will accept as garbage and skip. Overall I am trying also to decide which is the best encryption code to add first. Also, If I must create the code from scratch will it take along time. If I recieve enough in donate I will be able to just buy a encryption code from a respected company to use for professional encryption, unless the donater says only use for your source code and no one elses.
Scattered Xor Cipher - instead of A xor B. The process will make A become variable with B still being part of your password. Which means 1 letter of your password to 1 letter of the code can have many different outputs that will vary. The random number will be based on a special algorithm to create the new code. This will enhance the encryption of the normal Xor Cipher, thus creating a new cipher. It will be my personal cipher for which others have not had a chance to hack yet.
Hide Files into Pictures - like Professional encryption, I'll end up working on encoding the files into something a image will skip as part of the extra "garbage" in a picture file.
Advanced screen mode for Advanced users (so you dont have to flip through all the screens and you get a special "HEX" view mode too).
Any advice I recieve from emails I will consider to add to this list, If I choose to use your advice.. I will give you a copy of the latest Silver Edition and add your name to a list of credits.
Update: 0.2 fixes bug "parameter is incorrect" error when you try to read a message either encrypted or not.
*Beware though, if you edit your picture file with a picture file editor and then save it.. you may lose all your encrypted or non-encyrpted message.
You are not required to donate. I just put this link below for those of you whom want to help me make this a better product.
